Nintendo lowers the price of the 3DS to $169.99 effective August 12, 2011 in the US

Nintendo will lower the price of the 3DS to $169.99 in the US effective August 12, 2011.  To not anger those who have purchased the 3DS before the huge discount, Nintendo will give current owners 20 free games if they connect to the Nintendo eShop at least once before 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on Aug. 11.

The free games include:
10 NES™ Virtual Console™ games - can be downloaded starting September 1, 2011
10 Game Boy Advance Virtual Console games - available by the end of 2011

AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II is a slider?

BGR.com has posted what they say is the At&t version of the Samsung Galaxy S II.  The image shows the Galaxy S II as a slider, a full sized mini keyboard is revealed if the front face is slide to the side.

According to a report by YonHap News, the Samsung Galaxy S2 will be released sometime in August 2011 in the United States.

   "We expect to release the Galaxy S2 in the U.S. market sometime in August," Shin Jong-kyun, president of Samsung's mobile business and digital imaging, told reporters at a media briefing.

The highly anticipated Google Android powered phone has already sold over 6 million units within 3 months in Asia in Europe.  The US release seems to be aimed to compete with the rumored Fall release of the Apple iPhone 5.

Apple is replacing defective iMac 1TB harddrives sold between May 2011 and July 2011.

Call of Duty XP Los Angeles 2011 - Tickets still on sale

Tickets for the Call of Duty Los Angeles XP event are still on sale.  The $150 tickets have not sold out since they were listed 8 hours ago. The age limit of 18 and over may have limited the consumer base in which this event was targeting.

Call of Duty XP Los Angeles 2011 - More Info

The Call of Duty XP site has been updated with an event map and email registry.  Fans can now enter their email address and date of birth to receive news and information.

From the map, the paintball maps are on the edge with two large player holding tents in each corner.  There also seems to be stadium type seating in the center and a huge tent surrounded by Xbox 360s.

Wii U available sometime after April 1, 2012

Forbes recently had an interview with Nintendo of America's President and COO, Reggie Fils-Aime. In the interview, Reggie answered the following in regards to the Wii and Wii U being on sale at the same time: "This is a device that will launch in 2012, after April 1st, so we will deal with that situation at the appropriate time. What I can tell you is when we launched the original Wii, there was an overlap with Gamecube."

Hurry. PSN Welcome Back end date extended to Sony Fiasco

From the Playstation blog:

"UPDATE: The Welcome Back offer has been extended until 9am Pacific on Tuesday, July 5th. If you haven’t had a chance to download the offerings, please do so before then."

As if Sony hasn't already hurt themselves with bad public relations communications by not revealing the hack that has caused PSN to be disabled for over a month.  They blamed PS3 owners for being too late for not downloading the free games when Sony did not clearly state that the Welcome Back program would end at 7/2 midnight.  A lot of people assumed it would end at 7/3 midnight due to the dialogue written in the program FAQ.  Seems Sony realized they're mistake, again.  It's time for Sony to find better PR.
